Chief magistrate arrested in gun bar brawl

 MOROTO- Kapchorwa Chief Magistrate Brince Teko Lokeris was on Saturday 11th September 2021 arrested and detained by police in Moroto district after a bar brawl in which he is alleged to have drawn a gun at his cousins at a hotel in Moroto Municipality. 

It is alleged that Lokeris on Saturday 11th September 2021 at around 8:00pm arrived at Moroto Hotel with his cousins for a drink.


It is said that the Chief Magistrate and the cousins where later developed a misunderstanding the act that made him stood up and punched one of his cousins but the victim didn’t retaliate.


It is alleged that following the victim’s inactivity, Lokeris angrily got his pistol and cocked it threatening the cousin with death. 


Fearing for their lives, the cousins shouted for help where they were rescued by a UPDF soldier and a bodyguard to the area ISO commander who had lodged at the same hotel who overpowered the chief magistrate disarming him.


The Police was then notified and the soldier handed over the Chief Magistrate to the officers. 


Our reporter learnt that Teko Lokeris’ pistol was confiscated and exhibited at Moroto Central Police Station.

Fred Enanga, the Uganda police spokesperson revealed to our reporter that Lokeris was then after released on a police bond as investigations take shape.


According to our reliable sources, Lokeris will be arraigned in courts of laws and charged with assault and attempted murder.
