NEWS– Atwongire Doreen, a 39 year old lecturer at Bishop Stuart University in Mbarara has on 10th October 2024 been charged with causing grievous harm to her 21-year-old housemaid, Ninsiima Rachael.
According to police, the incident occurred on 25th September 2024 when Doreen returned home to find her child crying.
She allegedly poured boiling water on Rachael when the maid tried to explain the situation
Rachael sought medical attention at a nearby clinic and was later admitted overnight.
The housemaid ( Rachael) reported the incident to Katete police the following day leading to Doreen’s arrest.
The Police strongly condemns the violence and mistreatment of domestic workers stressing that every individual has the right to dignity, respect, and safety.
