RUKUNGIRI- Learners have been encouraged to be disciplined as they report back to their respective schools if they’re to archive their intended academic goals.
This was revealed by the Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Nsubuga Bewayo Stephen in his message to some learners from different schools in Rukungiri district.
The RDC visited schools including Kyabagerwa Primary School and Kashenyi SS all in Ruhinda Sub County, Kahororo, Buhunga, Katurika and Top care primary schools all in Buhunga Sub County among others.

While monitoring these schools on fact finding mission on the observance of COVID-19 guidelines and readiness to reopen, Nsubuga told learners that they should be well disciplined and utilize their time respectively if they’re to be successful.
He encouraged learners to avoid absenteeism but rather always report on daily basis to remain on right track of compensating the time lost in lockdown.

RDC confided to our reporter that most primary schools he visited didn’t comply with SOPs especially wearing of face masks thus tasking administrators to work on the issue with immediate effect such lives of learners can be spared.
Natweeta Edith the headteacher of Kahororo Primary School revealed that they received 150 pupils compared to over 500 they had before closure though hopeful that the numbers will normalize in coming days.
Kyokunzire Allen Costance the head teacher at Kyabagyerwa Primary School narrated that the turn up of students was so poor where by only 30 pupils with two in p7, four in p6, nobody reported in p.5 and others in lower classes reported on the first day of Schools reopening.

Canon Twinomujuni Wycliffe Macky the headteacher of Kashenyi Senior Secondary School told our reporter that the turn up of students was promising and they expected.
Macky added that they received over 700 students most of them opting for boarding section with hopes of more to join the School in coming days.
Sam Muhumuza the Katurika Secondary School head teacher promised to comply with all standard operating Procedures of fighting Covid-19 stressing that they have already oriented students in groups to copy up with the environment.
Keitesi Esther, Ayesiga Elizabeth and Akatusasira Nooma some of the students assured our reporter that they will comply and follow SOPs such that they are not forces home once again.
