NEWS- The tragic murder of a woman and her son has triggered Police investigation in Kazo District to establish the likely cause of the incident. This has since led to the arrest of three suspects who are currently behind the bars to assist authorities in investigations.
The victims identified as 37-year-old Winnie Kamukama and her minor son both residents of Kashenyi village in Kitongore parish, Engari Sub County. They were discovered dead in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The local chairperson of Kashenyi village, Leo Katembeya confirmed the heartbreaking incident stating that tensions with a neighbor, identified as David Kamukama may have contributed to the heinous act.
Kamukama along with his mother and brother, known only as Hassan, have been apprehended by police in connection with the murders.
Residents of Kashenyi village expressed their shock and grief over the tragedy calling for urgent government intervention to address unacceptable behavior in the community.
“This incident is a wake-up call for all of us. We need proper support from authorities to deal with individuals who threaten the safety of our neighborhoods,” one resident reported.
As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of two innocent lives and seeks justice for Winnie and her young son.
Police were by press time yet to release further details about the circumstances surrounding the murders or the legal proceedings against the suspects.
