Ugandans have been urged not to be destructed by the negative energies at their workplace whether by workmates or subordinates since they are at times measures of one’s performance, and finally the road to success.
These were the words of Ven. Andrew Kananura the Kakinga Archdeaconry archdeacon during the retirement thanksgiving of the former Principal Municipal officer Alfred Katabazi after 35 years of dedicated service.
Kananura also urged the congregation to always be grateful to God for what he offers to them whether big or small, and forgive fellows who wrong them in a bid to become heirs of God’s kingdom.
The function was held at Katabazi’s home in Kanyinya Teachers’ Village, Ndorero ward, Southern Division Rukungiri Municipality.
Retired Alfred Katabazi, wife Lydia and the entire family were grateful to the almighty for leading him to serve in different capacities in the Public Service Commission to the end.
Katabazi narrated that despite the hiccups in the roles he was assigned to, he was able to put his cycle to the apex without quarrels with fellows or subordinates.
Robert Nuwamanya the Rukungiri Municipality Town Clerk, noted that Katabazi has diligently served the Municipality in the Education sector where they were ranked 4th in better performance in the entire country, emerged the first in Prime Minister’s Office annual Assessment in 31 Municipalities and cities. Representing those that Katabazi taught, Counsel Isaac Atukunda who’s eyeing the Rukungiri Municipality Parliamentary seat described the special moments that all learners that went through his hands remember about him being passionate to his role and loving education from the bottom of his heart.
District boss Geoffrey Kyomukama described Katabazi as a dependable servant who took the mantle of ensuring a commendable, bold and strong education sector in Municipality.
Kyomukama noted that Katabazi has been a team player, and a unifier adding that his efforts in the education sector have given Rukungiri district a good name at the National level.
The Chiefguest Abiine Merycent Ariyo the Deputy RDC Bundibugyo District who officiated at the function hailed Katabazi upon this milestone stressing that many have served but failed to make it this honour.
She pointed out that serving until clocking the retirement age is a confirmation that Katabazi was principled and always worked towards achieving success.
Robert Agume who has been serving in Kazo District now takes over from Alfred Katabazi as the Rukungiri Municipality Education Officer.
The function was also graced by Prosper Tagobya, the Mbarara City North Clerk, Former Rukungiri Municipality MP Roland Mugume Kaginda, MP Elisah Rutahigwa, among others.
