NEWS- The speaker of parliament Annitah Annet Among has directed Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities to address concerns of population over road levies.
According to Among, some Members of Parliament from Northern Uganda raised concerns about road levies imposed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority on the usage of certain roads in Murchison Falls National Game Park by travellers affected by the closure of Karuma Bridge.
Over the weekend, a video emerged showing some Honourable members demanding that the road levies be waived for non-tourist travellers passing through Murchison Falls National Game Park.
The speaker urged the Minister of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities to address the concerns of the affected population and their leaders and to resolve the issue amicably to facilitate the movement of people and goods to and from Northern Uganda and West Nile.
She noted that citizens should be at the centre of service delivery stressing that any public process that alienates citizens is destined to fail.
