In a heartfelt celebration of faith and community spirit, Nyakibale Parish in Kabale diocese conducted its annual Christmas carols singing competition, bringing together choirs from across the parish to showcase their talents. The event, held on [21/12/2025], was marked by heartfelt performances and a strong message about the importance of worship through song.

Reverend Father Conrad Atuhaire, the parish priest, emphasized the profound role of singing in communicating with God. “Singing not only brings us closer to God but also strengthens our faith,” he stated during the event. He urged parishioners to embrace this form of worship as a way to enhance their spiritual lives. Father Atuhaire expressed gratitude to all participating choirs, encouraging them to pour their energy into their performances for continued success.

Reverend Father Ndyomugabe Balthazar, the chaplain and advisor for the joint choirs, echoed this sentiment. “Our singing creates a bond with God and each other,” he said. He highlighted that the Christmas carols competition began in 2020 to nurture the talents of Christians through music. This year, a total of 18 choirs took part, showcasing diverse musical styles and heartfelt renditions of classic carols. Each choir received recognition and gifts based on their performances.

The competition saw St. Mary’s Nyakibale Choir take home the trophy for the first time. Their inspiring performance surpassed last year’s champions, Bwanda Catholic Choir, who secured second place. Kashozi Catholic Choir proudly claimed third place, with other choirs following closely behind

In his closing remarks, Father Balthazar encouraged choirs to maintain a spirit of consistency in their practice. He stressed the importance of celebrating the festive season mindfully, advocating for guidance from God to ensure success and joy throughout the holiday.

Tibesigwa Rodovico Salongo, the chairperson for choirs at Nyakibale Parish, also commended the participants for their dedication to worship. He reminded choir members of their important role in leading the community in praise, urging them to strive for holiness and excellence in their performances.

As the community prepares for Christmas, the carols competition has fostered camaraderie and a shared sense of purpose among parishioners. The joy of singing together serves as a reminder of the true spirit of the season: celebrating faith, love, and the gift of music. The parish looks forward to continued musical expressions and a strong community bond in the years to come.
