Police in Rubanda registered a single serious accident that involved an ambulance and a number of passengers were injured.
Police has identified the victims involved as Busingye Brandina 25yrs, midwife, resident of Nyarugaragara village, Nyamabare parish, Ikumba subcounty in Rubanda district.Byomugabe Wilson 45yrs the driver resident of Ntaraga village, Ntaraga parish, lkumba subcounty in Rubanda district.
Nyinaguhigwa Brandina , resident of Kashasha village, kashasha parish, lkumba subcounty in Rubanda district.Nuwamanya Anociate of around 2yrs, daughter to Nyinaguhigwa.and Ntegyerezi Veneranda 52yrs, resident of Kashasha village, kashasha parish, Ikumba subcounty in Rubanda district.
Kigezi Region police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate said that the accident occurred on Saturday 4/3/2023 at around 03:50pm at Ntaraga village/ parish Ikumba sub county along Kagunga Kabale marrum road Rubanda district.
It involved Motor vehichle reg no. UAL 194J T/ Land cruiser white in color ambulance attached to Kiizi health centre 111, lost control and overturned when was rushing an expectant woman to Kabale referral hospital.
According to Maate It’s alleged that the above motor vehichle was heading to Kabale rushing an expectant pregnant patient who had been referred to Kabale referral hospital from Rubanda Primary Health Care Program (PHCP) Health Center III, but due to over speeding the driver lost control, went off the road and overturned several times and ending in the valley about 25meters from the road. The five people who were on board all survived with injuries.
Maate adds that scene was visited by Asp Wakatuma Alamanzani DTO Rubanda and team, sketch plan was drafted and Motor vehicle was towed and parked at police pending IOV inspection.Inquiries are at hand.
