Today, the Rukungiri Youth Delegates extended their support to Babrah Nakandi Amooti, endorsing her as an independent candidate for the position of Youth Member of Parliament for Western Uganda. This endorsement occurred at a gathering held at the Rukungiri Inn Hotel, where youth from various areas convened to strengthen their campaign ahead of the elections scheduled for January 28.

Citing high levels of unemployment and lack of adequate representation, she expressed concern over the current state of despair felt by many young people. Babrah firmly believes that effective leadership can address these pressing issues, fostering a supportive environment where youth can thrive.

Babrah’s campaign is built around a four-point agenda aimed at transformative change through Addressing Unemployment by implementing initiatives that specifically target job creation for young people in the region, Changing Policies through advocacy for supportive policies that are responsive to youth needs, emphasizing the importance of youth voices in political decision-making.

Additionally, Community Involvement through highlighting the need for increased youth involvement in community activities, ensuring that their perspectives and ideas are considered in local governance, and Talent Empowerment by nurturing and promoting the talents of youth, steering them away from negative influences such as substance abuse and crime by providing the necessary support for their growth hence called upon the youth from the Rwenzori, Kigezi, Bunyoro, and Ankole Sub Regions to rally behind her and prioritize their future in the upcoming elections.
