In a spirited celebration today, 39 children graduated from top class to Primary One at Pearl Junior Nursery School in Bwanda. The event not only marked a significant academic milestone for the children but also served as a platform for parents and educators to emphasize the importance of spiritual growth.
The ceremony commenced with a colorful procession led by a band through the local communities of Bunyinya, Omukashenyi, and Mushunga, each showcasing the graduates’ enthusiasm. This was followed by a heartfelt thanksgiving mass at Bwanda Church of Uganda (COU), where community members gathered to celebrate the children’s achievements.
During the mass, Roy Behangana, the leader of the Mothers Union at Bwanda COU, delivered an inspiring message. She urged children to prioritize respect for their parents and teachers, acknowledging their crucial roles in their upbringing. “We are all children of God, and it is vital to honor those who guide us,” Behangana stated. She congratulated the graduates for their hard work and encouraged parents to bring their children closer to God, reinforcing the idea that a strong spiritual foundation is essential for a successful life.
Asiimwe Wellen, the Director and Headteacher of Pearl Junior Nursery School, expressed profound gratitude to everyone involved in the children’s education. Although the school has only been operational for a year, Wellen highlighted notable achievements and improvements. He thanked parents for their trust and support, which have been instrumental in the school’s early success. “We are committed to nurturing these young minds not just in nursery but through to primary levels,” he affirmed.

Tumwesigye Ambrose, Chairperson of the Parents-Teachers Association, echoed Wellen’s sentiments, appreciating the collaborative efforts of parents in ensuring quality education. He acknowledged that while current enrollment numbers are modest, there is optimism for growth. “If we continue to see improvements, more families will be inclined to enroll their children,” Ambrose noted, urging parents to actively participate in their children’s educational journey.
Irine Nuwamanya, Lay Leader of Bwanda COU in the Rusheshe Parish Buhunga Archdeaconary, also shared her thoughts, praising the unity between the church and the school. She welcomed students returning for the holidays, especially the candidates preparing for national examinations. Nuwamanya stressed the importance of vigilance and parental involvement to safeguard the children during this critical time.
In conclusion, the graduation ceremony at Pearl Junior Nursery School was more than a celebration of academic success; it was a heartfelt call to parents and the community to nurture spiritual values and support the holistic development of the children.
