In a momentous political event today, Ingrid Kamateneti Turinawe received a resounding endorsement from Hon. Aliban Rukundo at a rally held in Rwentondo Ward, Eastern Division of Rukungiri Municipality. Turinawe is vying for the parliamentary seat to represent Rukungiri Municipality, and Rukundo’s support adds significant weight to her campaign.

Rukundo, a former candidate for Rubabo County and head of the pressure group Revolution for Freedom, passionately urged residents to back Turinawe. Praising her dedication to the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) party, he highlighted her tireless efforts toward fighting for freedom and development. During his address, Rukundo criticized the current ruling party, the National Resistance Movement (NRM), stressing that it would be a shame for Rukungiri to be represented by them, especially with opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye unjustly imprisoned.

“Leadership should be about service,” Turinawe said. “We need leaders who are committed to the needs of the people. My vision is aligned with what the community truly requires.”She also addressed pressing issues such as youth unemployment, vowing to work towards better employment opportunities for the younger population. Turinawe aims to advocate for the elevation of Rukungiri Municipality to city status, a move she believes will spur further development.
