**Kinyasaano, North Kigezi Diocese** – In a heartfelt press conference held at the St Emmanuel Cathedral, Bishop Onesmus Asiimwe called upon leaders to prioritize accountability in fulfilling their responsibilities. This significant appeal comes just ahead of the Bishop’s 3rd anniversary Thanksgiving and the farewell for Archbishop Dr. Steven Kazimba Mugalu, scheduled for Sunday, March 15th.

Speaking to a gathering of local media, Bishop Asiimwe shared that his personal commitment to accountability stems from the responsibilities entrusted to him. He announced plans for a Thanksgiving ceremony, which he sees as a way to showcase his accountability to the community he serves. This year’s celebration is particularly significant, as it will also serve as a farewell tribute to Archbishop Mugalu, who has been a steadfast leader within the Church of Uganda.

Bishop Asiimwe emphasized that such gatherings provide an essential platform for leaders to present their achievements and the progress made on their promises. Reflecting on his tenure since becoming the 6th Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese on March 12, 2023, he shared his ten-point agenda, which includes initiatives like inclusive prayers, Bible studies, clergy seminars, and the development of schools. He reported that many of these initiatives are progressing well, with completion rates approaching 70%.
