The Rukungiri Corporate League officially launched its 2026 season on 28Feb,2026 during a lively press conference and stakeholders meeting held at Comfort Village Gardens in Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality. The event, attended by numerous local business owners and community leaders, set a vibrant tone for the season ahead.

Chairperson Maurice Tumwesigye opened the meeting by emphasizing the league’s core objectives: promoting good health among participants, enhancing brand visibility, and fostering networking opportunities. He urged local brands to actively engage in the league, highlighting that collaboration could lead to mutual benefits and community development.

The upcoming season will feature a range of activities, including football, aerobics, and volleyball. Tumwesigye announced that the first outing would occur on March 8, with a participation fee set at 100,000 Ugandan Shillings, along with a 50,000 Ugandan Shilling membership fee. “We encourage all brands to show serious commitment, as the benefits of participation are substantial,” he stated.

A series of rules designed to ensure fair play and inclusivity were also discussed. Teams in the football matches must consist of seven players, including at least one female participant. Matches will last for 30 minutes, as every match half will take 15 minutes. A direct red card will result in a player missing two games, while two yellow cards will lead to the suspension of one game. Notably, teams participating in aerobics will gain two points if they field seven players.

Emphasizing the importance of punctuality, Tumwesigye reminded attendees that teams must arrive by 9:00 AM. Late arrivals will face point deductions, and he called on participants to remain disciplined about time management.
