During the Annual General Meeting held at Rukondo Primary School, Eddy Misho, the Chairperson LCII for Karangaro ward, western division in Rukungiri Municipality emphasized the pivotal role parents play in shaping their children’s futures. Speaking to a gathering of parents, educators, and community members, Misho highlighted the necessity of parental involvement in nurturing children’s character and moral values.
In his address, Misho stressed that parents must lead by example, advocating for greater discipline within the home environment. “Children absorb values and behaviors from what they see at home,” he stated. “If you want to raise responsible and successful individuals, you must first embody those characteristics yourself.”
Misho’s call to action comes at a time when many families are preparing for the long holiday season. He urged parents to take this opportunity to engage their children constructively, providing them with skills and time for revision. “The holidays should not only be a time for relaxation but also an opportunity for learning and growth,” he noted, emphasizing the importance of fostering a culture of education and self-improvement.
The collaboration between parents and the school management was another focal point of Misho’s speech. He encouraged parents to actively engage with teachers and school activities to ensure a supportive environment for their children’s education. “When you work with the school, you create a positive feedback loop that benefits your child,” he added.
Tindiwegi Samson, the Headteacher of Rukondo Primary School, also addressed the gathering, expressing deep gratitude for the parents’ commitment to their children’s education. Samson thanked them for attending the meeting and for their ongoing support, which he regarded as crucial for the school’s development.
Samson reiterated the importance of parental responsibility during the long holidays. “It’s essential to keep your children engaged and disciplined,” he urged. “The holiday period can lead to distractions, so it’s vital that you supervise them and encourage productive activities.”
Moreover, he advised parents to plan financially during festive seasons, suggesting that they save adequately to prepare for the first term of the upcoming school year. “Your children’s education should be a priority,” Samson affirmed, urging families to make thoughtful financial decisions.
In conclusion, the meeting was a significant reminder of the powerful impact parental guidance has on shaping disciplined, responsible, and academically successful children. The collaborative efforts of parents and educators could create a robust foundation for the youth of Rukungiri Municipality.
