In a heartfelt message delivered at the Speech Day ceremony of Graceland Academy, Kembabazi Peace, the Rukungiri District Officer for Special Needs, urged parents to prioritize education as an essential tool for securing a bright future for their children. The event, held at the school located in Kitojo Cell, Nyaburondo Parish in Nyakagyeme Sub County, served as a celebration of student achievement and a platform for community leaders to share vital perspectives on the importance of education.

Kembabazi’s address highlighted the critical role that education plays not only in the lives of individual students but also in the overall development of families and communities. “Education is the foundation for success and well-being,” she stated emphatically. “When we invest in our children’s education, we are ultimately investing in the future of our society.”

The District Officer particularly focused on the need for equal educational opportunities for all children, emphasizing those with special needs. She called upon parents to be proactive in providing support and resources for these children, affirming that they, too, deserve a quality education that prepares them for future challenges. “Every child has the potential to excel if given the right chance,” Kembabazi remarked, stressing the collective responsibility of parents and the community to support all learners.

In light of the upcoming long holiday, Kembabazi also urged parents to be engaged and involved in their children’s lives. “This time should be used wisely to empower children with essential skills and cultural values,” she advised. “Parents should prioritize time for academic revision and reinforce moral teachings that will guide their children in the coming year.” Her call to action received enthusiastic applause from parents gathered at the ceremony.

In attendance was Bishop Onesmus Byengoma Ngoboka, the Director of Graceland Academy, who echoed Kembabazi’s sentiments regarding the importance of education. He expressed his gratitude to the parents for their unwavering support and to the teachers and students for their commitment to the school’s growth and development. “Your dedication is what helps our children to thrive,” he noted.

Ngoboka also took the opportunity to emphasize the need for parents to ensure education for children with special needs. “It is critical to cultivate these children into future leaders,” he said, advocating for an inclusive approach to education that accommodates every child’s unique learning requirements.

Additionally, Fosca Nuwagaba, the Headteacher of Graceland Academy, thanked all stakeholders for their contributions. She highlighted the importance of the event in recognizing the achievements of the school’s students, particularly the 25 graduates transitioning from nursery to primary school. Nuwagaba stated that Graduation Day is not just a formality but a celebration of hard work, dedication, and community spirit elaborating that this day is significant as it brings together parents, teachers, and students to interact and celebrate our collective achievements citing that reinforcing the importance of collaboration in nurturing future generations.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates to the graduates, marking a milestone in their educational journey and encouraging them to embrace future learning opportunities with zeal. The community left the event inspired by the messages of empowerment and commitment to education, underscoring the belief that a community that values education is one that secures its own future.
