In a significant effort to combat computer illiteracy in local schools, Buyanja My Roots has donated 24 computers and printers valued at shs35 million to primary schools in Buyanja Sub County Rukungiri district.
The school head teachers were yesterday graciously presented with these computers by Rukungiri district and Buyanja My Roots leadership led by the chairman, Allan Asinguza Mutemba and Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Agaba Hilary at Buyanja Town Council headquarters.
Speaking as the chief guest during the handover ceremony, Mr. Agaba Hilary expressed gratitude to Buyanja My Roots for their selfless act of giving back to their community in an effort to create a more developed society.
Agaba asked head teachers to take care of these donated machines so they don’t get stolen and can be used for their original purposes.
Allan Asinguza Mutemba, the chairman of Buyanja my Roots, emphasized that these computers were a gesture of goodwill from BMR which cares about the well-being of pupils in the education sector.
Dr. Adrian Binebyabo Bwankwindi, one of the founders and mobilizer for Buyanja My Roots said that they are giving back to their communities noting that these computers will enable schools to engage with modern technology and thrive in the digital age.
Musimenta Andrew from Rwamuhima Primary School and Twebaze Rwamburara Darius, some of the beneficiary head teachers expressed their gratitude to Buyanja My Roots, noting the challenges they face with limited resources to buy exams.
